Alright, I hope you’re ready for this one because I’m going to tell you about the absolute biggest game changer in my business & one that could totally be for you too this year!

I started with in person consults when I had a studio way back in 2009. These were great, but so time consuming!

When I moved to a new area & found myself without a studio, I went to booking over the phone. I loved the calls, but they weren’t scheduled so there was some back & forth. Of course, this was back in the day when people actually picked up their phones. I did pretty good with them, but this definitely had its challenges.

Time went on & my kids started getting more into sports as they got older & my time was getting eaten up by mom life. No complaints. It was just the season of life I was in. So I knew I needed to come up with something.

I loved the scheduled part of the in person consult & I loved the simplicity of the phone call because I didn’t have to prepare all that much for it. About that time, zoom really started becoming a thing. I think that was around 2016 or so.

I was country when country wasn’t cool. (And I really just showed my age! Also, if you know what I am referencing, we can totally be friends!)

So, I immediately fell in love with doing virtual consults! I mean all I had to do was put on a nice top, clean up a little area of my office & do my thing! My conversion rates went up & I never looked back!

I used to have inquiries come in. I would call back or send a pretty magazine & then I’d totally get ghosted.

I was so confused!!! Was I too expensive? Did I say something wrong? Did they not like my work after all? I never knew & it drove me crazy!

So, when my students tell me this, I understand the frustration & I know immediately how we can fix it! We can turn that confusion into straight up CONFIDENCE by tweaking a few things & implementing a solid pre-booking consult process!

And here’s an added bonus, that consult allows for increased sales because of the perceived value of it. You are setting aside time to sit down & talk to your potential clients about their needs, their desires & what you can offer them.

On the opposite side of this equation, the ones who are willing to set aside THEIR time to talk to you are more serious inquiries & generally not price shoppers. They value the added attention to detail & they are for the most part a higher quality client in the end.

I’m going to read you some of the things my students have said because they were once where you might be today - a little doubtful that this really works. In fact, some of these ladies went into consults kicking & screaming! But here’s what happened:

It’s possible, my friends. With the right messaging, pricing, workflow & marketing systems in place, you can go from confused & frazzled, getting paid way too little to NOT having to work those long nights & weekends, to paying yourself regularly, to not snapping at your kids because they asked for ANOTHER snack while you’re editing & HALLELUJAH . . . spending quality time with your family instead!

Now you don’t just jump on a zoom call & instantly book a client. There’s strategy behind that call. There’s a rhythm you need to get into. There’s a way to prepare for that call, a way to feed off their body language & energy level. There’s a way to overcome those common objections before they even come up, a way to close the deal, right there on that call.
