Simplify Your Instagram Strategy With This Weekly Content Schedule

As photographers we have so many things to juggle - client sessions, editing, designing albums, ordering products, and OMGosh Instagram! We are no longer just photographers (insert any type of business owner here really). We are content creators, and there just aren’t enough hours in the day to continually come up with ideas and then create it right?!

I got tired of coming up with fresh ideas daily and wondering constantly what to post. So here’s what I do now instead. I came up with 7 different content categories that I thought my ideal senior photography client would be interested in seeing on Instagram.

Now each day is assigned a category. I might use that category in a post, a story or a reel, but the point is that I know what my themed content should be for that day of the week. Sometimes I do switch them around because I’m the boss and that’s what bosses get to do! Right?!! Here’s why:

On Sundays I will look at the week ahead. What’s going on? Any holidays, birthdays, events, sessions, etc? I make note of that and then swap around my themed content days if necessary.

Here are my 7 themed content categories for my photography instagram strategy:

  1. Fashion / Beauty

  2. Session Tip

  3. Personal / My Why

  4. Product Highlight

  5. Local / Current

  6. Model Team

  7. Encouragement / Inspiration

BTS is a given on my Instastories. And I like to throw in some silliness along the way so that my audience can get to know me and add my personality better :)

This is SUPER IMPORTANT and something that used to trip me up a lot. I mean, paralyze me into not being able to post something to my feed. THE PICTURE DOESN’T HAVE TO MATCH THE CAPTION!!! Just talk about what you want to talk about to your audience.

So my challenge to you would be to do the same. Set aside an hour or two each weekend (or whenever fits your life best) to plan your social media posts, stories and reels for the week. Here’s the kicker though: Once you have a plan, set aside time to create and execute. A plan without action won’t help.

Showing up consistently will make a huge difference in the way people view your business. Being intentional and posting to social media with purpose will set you apart from the masses.

Do you have a solid plan for your social media marketing or do you get up each day and scroll your phone looking for inspiration to strike? In order to grow your social media accounts which in turn increases your booking rate you have to be consistently showing up. Haphazardly posting every now and then without a plan is not going to do your business much good. You got this!!

“Being intentional and posting to social media with purpose will set you apart from the masses.”
